Key performance indicators at Ausenco-Katanga bore the brunt of limited visibility of remote industrial assets. Inadequate real-time data on the performance of equipment became the root cause of high machine downtime, exorbitant maintenance costs, and the consequent decline in production. The existing maintenance and monitoring strategy was measurably counterproductive—it resulted in unplanned downtimes and sending personnel to the site reactively proved to be inefficient. The need for real-time asset monitoring was deeply felt.
